As a family run business, organic produce with a quality over quantity ethos is important to us. Additionally, ensuring the welfare of our bees is paramount to this ethos and we understand the absolute central role honey bees play in both our business and more importantly, the wider environment. Everything we do has sustainability at its centre. We value the positive impact that ethical, Darwinian style beekeeping brings. From planting a seed to placing products on the shelves, everything we grow, produce and sell is organic. We passionately believe that organic beekeeping positively effects the quality and taste of our products.
We are proud to officially announce a new partnership with Rock2Recovery. Our mission, in conjunction with R2R is as follows - to save and change the lives of those in our Armed Forces, our veteran community and their families who are affected by stress.
Our approach is to inspire, coach and motivate towards a more positive future.
Applegate Organics will not only provide ground breaking beekeeping therapy workshops for the R2R community but all profit from R2R beehives will go direct to helping this worthy cause. Changing lives, saving lives.

Fleur Feilds Vineyard:
It is our great pleasure and privilege to now supply and manage beehives for this award winning vineyard. Situated on the rolling hills overlooking Pitsford reservoir in beautiful Northamptonshire, the estate are pleased once again to host beehives. Many of you may already know that grape vine is not pollinated by the honey bee. However, honey bees provide essential collateral pollination to surrounding plants and flowers, thus attracting additional insects which, in turn, predate on greenfly and other insects that may damage vine plants. This is a fine example of the impact that honey bees play in the food chain and eco system in general. Organic bees, organic wine, cheers, don't mind if I do.
Check out our Instagram page for further news on this exciting partnership.
Manuka Tree Orchard:
We're in the process of developing a Manuka tree orchard here at our Applegate apiary. Manuka or Leptospermum scoparium, a New Zealand native shrub that grows intermittently with other wildflowers in swathes is synonymous with New Zealand. The first set of trees are already in and we hope to add to this in the coming months and years.
Providing an additional nectar and pollen source for our bees to feed on we hope, will create the most delicious and unique honey.
Applegate Organics have a substantial pollination program running in conjunction with our partners across Northamponshire. The collaborations allows us to improve the yield and quality of flora and fauna which in turn holistically improves the micro eco system. Unlike traditional pollination services, which can be expensive and frequently hit and miss, our bespoke hive hosting program will ensure year round opportunity for pollination, almost guaranteeing adequate coverage. This model is far more economical and successful compared to more conventional methods.
We have now launched our honey bee hive adoption program. Get in touch to learn more about our packages or check back here soon for further updates.
Beekeeping therapy is a relatively new phenomenon in the UK. Working closely with our partner Rock2Recovery, we have developed a program of support to those serving in the armed forces, the veteran community and families who are affected by stress / PTSD. Our aim is to introduce, via beekeeping, a stress free environment where participants can reconnect with nature in a peaceful, soothing environment while learning new skills.
Beekeeping therapy not only soothes the soul, it gives participants focus and allows them to look positively about their future.

How beekeeping can help veterans
Our beginners beekeeping courses are temporarily suspended due to the current climate but we hope to re introduce these for the summer of 2021, Updates will follow here before the new year.
We will be looking to begin our beekeeping talks for charities and local organisations from August 2020 onwards, subscribe to get updates or contact us directly if you'd like to organise a talk from us.
We are always keen to contribute to cutting edge programs aimed at enhancing pollination and saving our precious honey bees. We are willing to collaborate and give over access to our substantial apiaries for research projects.
One area of particular interest to our director is the cause and effect of honey bee pheromones on mammals, more specifically, on humans. Little is yet know about the neurological and chemical links between species but we hypothesise that there are many positive benefits derived from insect pheromone.
